There are several options for installing Git on macOS. Note that any non-source distributions are provided by third parties, and may not be up to date with the latest source release.
Click Install Xcode if you plan to developer OS X or iOS software, if you want a hassle-free experience then click Install to get the Apple version of Git. Click Agree to the license agreement. Atom is free to download and runs on Linux, OS X and Windows with support for plug-ins written in Node.js and embedded Git Control. It is based on Electron (formerly known as Atom Shell),a framework for building cross-platform apps using Chromium and Node.js. Open or quit Terminal on Mac. Each window in Terminal represents an instance of a shell process. The window contains a prompt that indicates you can enter a command. The prompt you see depends on your Terminal and shell preferences, but it often includes the name of the host you’re logged in to, your current working folder, your user name.
